A nice J.D. Wagner Penta fly rod, model 273 FSB 4-5 wt. "Penta number one". 7'3" in length, 2-piece, 2-tip, built for a #4/5 line. Pentagonal construction. Medium, full flexing action. This rod shows signs of light use, as the grip has a very small amount of hand soiling. Flamed cane with what would have been 2 opposed node pattern if this had been a 6 sided blank. Excellent flawless varnish. Chrome guides wrapped in a very light brown with tiny black edges. The swiss-style ferrules are wrapped black and polished. The rod is equipped with a red agate stripping guide. The keeper is on the wrap flat and lettered 2 flats left "J.D.Wagner-Maker" and 1 flat left "Model 273 FSP 4-5 wt." On the wrap flat we have "Penta number one" denoting the first rod of the series. 6" 12 cork blunt western-style grip. Mortised burl spacer and a nickel silver up lock screw lock reel seat with a hidden pocket cap. A super job of craftsmanship from Jeff. Comes with a green cloth bag with leather pull tab and a black painted aluminum tube with brass bottom, collar, and top.
