Here we have a Jerry Drake two-handed rod, 10'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, built for a #8 line. Serial number 38, and marked "G243H". 8.1 ounces. Marked 8-1-2008. Full flexing action. Lightly used as the grip is about 95% clean. A varnish chip from a glancing hook blow just below the top stripping guide is the only real sign of use. The cane is a wheat straw color and the nodes seem to be clustered close together (within 2") in a somewhat random pattern. Light tan wraps with black edges. Ceramic stripping guide on the butt with chrome snake guides for the remainder. Very light coat of varnish. A number of the node areas have some filled seams showing and the butt has a 4 1/2" long seam that has been filled in and colored to match the cane. The swiss-style ferrules are bright and the female has a deep trim mark. The tips have the same random node distribution and the nodes themselves are also about 1/4" larger than the butt section. The upper grip is a 9 3/4" half wells with a downlocking screwlock and a hidden pocket cap. Nicely varnished maple insert. The lower grip is 4 1/2" with a large black rubber button. The rod packs into a tan cloth bag and an aluminum tube.
