A nice Jim Reams fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 2-tip, built for #5 line. Serial #197. Shows signs of modest use. The grip has some modest discoloration due to hand oil. The rod's action is fairly fast. The bamboo is flamed in a three up node pattern, and the nodes are nice and small so careful attention was paid to hand pressing them. The stripper is a SRMC carbide and the black snake guides are Snake brand. The wraps appear to be an olive brown with black edges at the keeper and female ferrule. The varnish coat is very light and well done. The ferrules are swiss style with a collar on the males and oxidized. The keeper is one flat right. The rod is inscribed "J.L. Reams" 3 flats right and "8' 5wt, No 197" 2 flats right. The reel seat spacer is made of cocobolo wood and the cap and ring reel seat is polished nickel silver. The 6 1/2" full wells grip is slightly soiled. This rod comes with a deep blue colored rod bag and black painted tube with a gold anodized aluminum collar and tops.
