A Jim Schaaf bamboo fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #6 line. Designated "The Flame Treated Fly Rod" from the label on the tube. The rod weighs 4.9 ounces on my scale. Serial number "80-2-85" which is inked on the shaft, above the male ferrules on each tip, and also noted on the tube label. Medium action. Lightly used original condition with some soiling to the grip and one tip has a small chip in the varnish near where the serial number is inked just above the male ferrule. I did notice a light clicking to the ferrule when the rod was mounted, though neither the male nor female seems loose, so I suspect the males were just overlapped a tiny bit. Flamed cane done in a three up node pattern construction. Brown wraps with light brown tipping. Carbide stripper. Oxidized ferrules. 6 1/2" long grip that's shaped to a western profile with a bit of hand soiling. The reel seat is an aluminum downlocking screwlock over a varnished wood spacer with a nickel silver slotted cap that has the maker's mark stamped into the back. The rod packs into a khaki bag and an aluminum tube with a data sticker affixed to it.
