A nice HL Leonard Duracane fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 2-tip, built for a #6 line. Serial #408. 4.3 ounces. Near mint condition with brassing to the inner guides of one tip only. The grip is clean. Medium fast action. This rod has the hallmarks of the Maxwell period with the later style screwlock and the very slim cigar grip. Impregnated cane done in a three up node pattern. The Leonard step ferrules have 100% of the pewter oxidation. The main wraps are transparent light yellow with brown at the keeper, ferrules, and tip-tops with an extra band of yellow and black at the keeper and black at the ferrules. Carbide stripper and dark snake guides. The grip is 6" long and very lightly sculpted to a western profile. The seat is downlocking aluminum with a nickel silver pocket cap. The stamp reads "The HL Leonard Rod Co, The Rod Maker, Since 1869" in a cartouche. Comes with the original bag with the leather pull tab and a brushed aluminum tube with brass fittings.
