For sale here is a pre-fire H.L. Leonard Model 87 9'6" 3/2 Dry Fly Salmon rod. The rod is in excellent refinished condition. All sections are full length and straight. One tip-top appears to have been replaced or at least reblued as it does not match the wear of its counterpart. Chinese red wraps with gold tipping on the ferrule wrap of one tip and black on the other (added later by the refinisher). Mildly swelled butt. Cigar grip 6 1/8" in length with moderate soiling. The grip is void of any ridging or other defects. Aluminum screw-lock reel seat that reads "Special Tournament" on the backside of the spacer. The seat function as it should and is free of damage. The removable nickel silver butt cap features a bull's eye pattern with a "3" in the middle. The fighting butt is 4 3/4" in length with soiling comparable to the grip. The ferrules are size 13/64 and 20/64 with a great fit. The rod weighs 11.25 oz. with the fighting butt, and 8.30 oz. without. Medium-fast action. The rod includes the original bag with hang tag and a separate sleeve for the fighting butt and the original tube with brass fittings.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
