For sale here is an early Leonard Model 50 1/2 Tournament bamboo rod -- 8 1/2 feet for a 5wt. Two dry-fly tips and one wet tip with an agate tip-top. The wet tip is 2" shorter than the other rod sections. Excellent overall condition. All sections are full length and reasonably straight. Burgundy wraps with full intermediates. Many of the silks have been re-wrapped and there has been a varnish overcoat applied at some time in its life. English-style reverse twist guides. Agate stripping guide. Cigar grip 4 3/4" in length. All metal sliding band reel seat. Ferrule sizes 16/64 and 10/64. The fit is very nice. Weight is 4 1/2 with both tips. The action with the dry tips is medium-fast, with the wet it is a bit slower in the tip as one would expect. This is a superb example of a Leonard rod from the 1920s. To find one in such finely preserved condition is rare. Includes original bag, tube and remnants of the original hang tag that is not legible.
