HL Leonard Original Hunt Model 50 Bamboo Rod 8' 3/2 #5

For sale here is a very scarce original Hunt Model 50 from H.L. Leonard. Tournament designation from the pre-fire era (could go back as early as the 1920s) Eight feet for a five weight line. Medium-fast action. Unlike many Hunt models that appear on the market from time to time, it is super difficult to find an original Hunt rod with the darkly stained cane, as opposed to the later Hunt models from the Maxwell era and beyond which had flamed cane to achieve the darker appearance. Another hallmark of the original Hunt model is the black reel seat hardware. All sections are full length and straight. Ted Simroe recently re-wrapped the silks on the rod because even though the rod had seen little use over its long life, many of the original wraps had deteriorated in strength resulting in detached guides (the guides are all still original). The varnish on the cane is still original. Original tan bag and original aluminum tube with brass fittings.
