For sale here is an impregnated Orvis Battenkill Deluxe 6'6" 2/2 4wt. Serial #18721, built in 1956 by George Reid and Cal Skinner during the Wes Jordan era. The rod is in excellent condition. The script on the butt section has received a light varnish overcoat for some reason, but the rest of the rod remains 100% original. All sections are full length with slight sets in both tips.
The rod features darkly tempered cane often seen on older Orvis rods with transparent deep rust colored wraps. The wraps and varnish over them remain in excellent condition. Blued guides and ferrules. the script remains clean and bold though the serial number on the butt is half worn off. The serial numbers on the tips remain free from defects. Very petite cigar grip 3 7/8" in length with some slight ridging. There is also a small hole caused by lesser quality cork. Dual aluminum sliding band reel seat over a cork spacer. The cork is a bit worn from use. The ferrules are size 11/64 with a great fit. The rod weighs 2.15 oz. The action is on the faster side of medium-fast as is usual with the shorter rods. Includes the original rare plaid rod bag and original black aluminum tube with brass fittings.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
