For sale here is an impregnated Orvis - "Rocky Mountain" 6'6" 5wt 3/2 bamboo rod. Serial no. 47750. The rod is in very good+ original condition. Unfortunately, the butt section ferrule is loose and will require resetting. There are also small scuffs and scratches here and there on the rod. The "Rocky Mountain" model is a fairly rare pack rod but this particular one is more so. The rod was awarded to Herman Kessler, art director of Field and Stream magazine by the federation of Fly Fishers in 1967.
The rod features dark tempered cane with chestnut wraps, characteristic of Orvis. Bright guides. The varnish over the script is worn in places though the writing remains 90% intact. U-shaped hook-keeper. Cigar grip 5 1/2" in length. The cork is soiled and lightly ridged in places. Aluminum down-locking reel seat with a walnut spacer. The blued ferrules are size 13/64 and 10/64, the fit is great. The rod weighs 3.25 oz. The action is a swift medium-fast capable of precise, delicate casts in close - perfect for small streams. Includes original gray bag and a handsome leather tube with brass fittings. Don't miss out in this sweet little pack rod.
