A nice EF Payne bamboo fly rod, 8'6", 3-piece, 2-tips, and built for a #5 or #6. 4.6 ounces. Powerful medium action. Based on the specs I suspect this is a Model 205, but there is no hang tag to confirm. All original and full length. The ferrule fits are good and the rod is perfectly straight. There is some wear to the inner guides and the varnish is only in fair condition. While not soft to the touch, there is considerable bag imprint, though thankfully no areas of out-and-out bare cane. The wraps are brown with black edges and an extra band of yellow and purple at the keeper and the male ferrules. Agate stripping guide and high arch HSS snake guides. The step ferrules retain 95% of their original oxidation. The 5 1/2" long medium cigar grip has unfortunately been cleaned leaving it somewhat ridgy. The rod is outfitted with a walnut slide band seat retaining 90% of the oxidation. The butt cap is stamped "Payne" "Reg Us Pat Off" and on the reverse "Sold by, HD Folsom Arms Co, New York". The poplin green bag is original but missing the hang tag. The tube is original but missing the felt in the cap.
