A very nice Per Brandin Model 908-3 SS HB 2/99 fly rod, 9', 3-piece, 2-tips, and built for a #8 line. Light use. 5.6 ounces with a medium-fast to fast action. Tan wraps with a black edge at the keeper, ferrules, and tip-tops. Light coat of varnish. The stripper is an agate and the guides are snake brand. The butt and mid are a spiral node pattern while the tips are done in three-up. The ferrules are a semi-truncated step ferrule and are oxidized. The rod has been used with some minor cosmetic casting cracks to the wraps and a tiny bit of brassing to the inner part of the snake guides. The grip also has a small amount of soiling. All sections are nice and straight, as if they have just left the shop. The grip is 6 3/4" long and done in a half wells profile with a hidden pocket cap for the uplocking screw lock and the wood spacer is an oiled walnut. The bottom cap on the screwlock has a delrin insert, which I presume is for accommodating the longer feet on early reels like Hardy's. The rod packs in a tan cloth bag with an aluminum tube with brass fittings and Per's data sticker affixed, as well as a handsome outer rod tube bag. This would make an excellent light salmon or steelhead rod, perfect for small to medium wets or throwing bombers, hitches, or skaters.
