An RL Winston bamboo fly rod, 8'9", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #7 or #8 line. The rod weighs 5.1 ounces on my scale (the listed blank weight on the rod is 4.5 ounces). San Francisco era rod with a serial number of #1202. Used condition with some soiling to the grip and a repair wrap 1 1/8" long below the bottom guide on one tip. The rod is straight and the varnish is good. The original owner's name is inked on the rod. Hollow fluted construction with oven tempered cane. The main wraps are tan with cinnamon edges at the keeper and ferrules. Three strippers on the butt and one at the bottom of the tips with chrome snakes otherwise. The grip is 6" long and styled to a full wells profile. The reel seat is artificial wood with threads cut into it for the downlocking aluminum screwlock. A ferrule is inset into the butt cap for the fighting butt which is itself stored in the bottom of the rod bag. The rod packs into a maroon bag with the Winston label sewn on and an aluminum tube with about 60% of the San Francisco Winston label intact.
