For sale here is a FE Thomas Special bamboo rod -- 8'6" 3/2 for a five weight line. Serial No. F96 made in 1957. The rod is in excellent condition. One tip has a fishing set. The rod appears to be in original condition with the exception of some touch-up varnish on some of the wraps. Chestnut brown silks contrast well against the light browntone cane. Black tipping at the winding check, signature wrap with a 3-5-3-1 banding pattern. Three bands at the male ferrules. Ring hook-keeper. Cigar grip with some slight ridging. Hardy-style locking seat with a fine varnished wood reel seat. The rod was initially sold by Abercrombie & Fitch, a small piece of the sticker remains on the tube. Weight is 4 3/4 oz. Ferrules are size 15/64 and 9/64 with an excellent fit. Witness marks indented into ferrules. Medium slow to medium action. The rod comes with its original bag with hang-tag still intact as well as original tube with FET badge label and fine brass fittings.

There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
