For sale here is a handsome Daryll Whitehead bamboo rod -- 7'1" 2/2 for a 4 weight line. Serial no. 4B. Made in 1989 for renowned fly tyer, fly fisherman and historian, Ted Niemeyer. The rod is in excellent+ condition having been fished very sparingly. All sections are full length with a very mild set in one tip (easily straightened).
The rod features straw colored cane with hazelnut wraps and fine black tipping. The ferrules are wrapped in a chestnut color with black and gold tipping. Blued guides with a tortoiseshell agate stripping guide. Sculpted nickel silver check. The reverse half-wells grip measures 6 7/8" in length with only the slightest soiling. Nickel silver up-locking reel seat over a fossilized mammoth ivory spacer. The sliding ring and butt cap are finely engraved. The sliding ring is engraved with Mr. Niemeyer's name. The butt cap is engraved with the maker, serial number, and year. The Swiss-style ferrules are size 12/64 and include an ivory ferrule plug. The rod weighs 4.65 oz. The action is a wonderful medium-fast dry-fly. Includes original bag and tube with brass fittings.
