For sale here is a R.L. Winston 8' 5wt 2/2 bamboo fly rod. Serial #2298 made by Glenn Brackett. The owner of the rod informed me:
My old friend Claude Batault (who worked with Charles Ritz and Winston on designs) let me try his taper executed by Winston in the 1960s. Anyway, Glenn Brackett made this straight line taper for me in the late 1980s.
The rod is in excellent overall condition. All sections are full length and straight. Champagne-colored wraps over blonde cane. Burgundy tipping at winding check, signature wrap, ferrules, and tip-tops. This color scheme gives the rod an understated elegance. Ring hook-keeper. Sculpted and knurled winding check. Western-style grip with some soiling but void of chips, ridging, or hook gouges. Bright aluminum down-locking reel seat over the fine wood spacer. Bright guides. Ferrule size 13/64 with a very nice fit. The rod is marked as weighing 4 oz. and the actual weight on our scale reflects this. The rod has a rather nice medium-fast action. Well suited to almost all trout fishing, a great all around rod. Comes with original red bag and original brown aluminum tube with label and brass fittings.
