For sale here is an R.L. Winston 9' 2/1 5 oz. bamboo fly rod. Serial no. 8847. Merrick-era. The rod is in excellent original condition with one minor exception: the 5th guide down from the tip-top has been re-wrapped. All sections are full length and straight.

Lovely straw colored cane. The rod features champagne-colored wraps with burgundy tipping at the winding check, signature wrap, ferrules, and tip-top. The script remains clean and bold. Bronzed ring hook keeper. Interesting wooden winding check. The full wells grip is 6" in length and only mildly soiled. Down-locking, bright aluminum reel seat with the classic Winston bakelite spacer/body. The Duronze ferrules are size 16/64 with a nice fit. The rod weighs 5 oz. Powerful medium-fast action capable of casting considerable distances. Best suited for a 7 weight line. Includes original bag with SF label and the original tube with 90% of the label remaining.
