A Darryl Whitehead Presentation bamboo fly rod, 7'6", 3-piece, 2-tip and built for a #4. Serial #236. The rod weighs 3.8 ounces. Medium action. Near mint condition, it looks to have been lawn cast with a hint of brassing to the inner guides, but that's about it. The fittings include engraved ferrules and hardware. The reel seat, check, and ferrule plugs are made of what appears to be cape buffalo dark colored horn. Flamed cane done in a three up node pattern with mirrored tips. The cane is somewhat grainy in a few places. Excellent varnish. The wraps are black with white edges. The agate stripper is a light gray color and the snake guides are jet black. The swiss style ferrules are engraved and the welt has a fine knurl. "Whitehead" is roller die stamped on the butt female. The ferrule plugs are dark horn and nickel silver. The grip is 6" long and shaped to a blunt cigar profile. The rod comes in a black cloth bag and a black leather Arnie Mason tube with the rod serial number stamped on it.
