A nice FE Thomas Special fly rod, 8', 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #6 line. Serial #6E48 (1951). 4.2 ounces. Lightly used or near mint condition, no cosmetic ferrule cracks and only very light hand soiling to the grip. Medium action. The varnish is hard and in very nice condition. The wraps are brown. The stripping guide is a golden agateen and the snake guides are reverse twist bronze. The grip is 5 1/2" and shaped to a medium cigar profile. The reel seat is cork with a nickel silver ring and pocket cap. The cap is stamped "FE Thomas, Special, Bangor, ME" and on the bottom "GF48". The rod packs into an olive cloth bag and an original FE Thomas tube with a shield decal.
