An Orvis Adirondack model fly rod, 7'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #5. Fast DF action. Serial #89681. 4.2 ounces. Mint condition. This rod features a much faster action than the standard Orvis line, and has a swelled butt, fine tips, a lighter color temper, and an upgraded reel seat. Three up node pattern, done with resorcinol glue. The wraps are maroon with black edges. The stripper is a #10 SRMC carbide and the snake guides are chrome as are the tip-tops. The upper portion of one tip has some twist and the tip-top appears to be aligned to the corner. The step ferrules are unoxidized and fit as new. The grip is 6 1/2" long and is done in a western profile with a hidden pocket cap. The reel seat is an upsliding ring over a stabilized spalted west coast maple burl mortised to reveal a cork base. The rear cork check, ring, and retaining cap are all polished nickel silver. The rod has a fitted green cloth bag and the original case is black crackle painted aluminum with a gold anodized collar and top with the Orvis data sticker. New from Orvis I believe this rod retails for more than $3,000.
