An Orvis Battenkill bamboo fly rod, 7', 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #4 line. Serial #88349. The rod weighs 3 3/8 ounces on my scale. Medium slow action flexing fully into the grip. Used condition the ferrule fits are good but the tips could use a bit of straightening. The grip has a good bit of hand soiling and some of the writing on the shaft has been lost. Medium oven temper cane, much lighter in color than the earlier models. Resorcinol glue with the distinctive dark lines. Three up node pattern. The nickel silver step ferrules fit well and are polished bright. The main wraps are light tan with darker brown edges at all wraps. Carbide stripper and chrome snake guides. The grip is 6 1/2" long and overwrapped at the keeper. The shape is a western style with a hidden pocket cap for the uplocking slide band seat. The spacer is birds eye maple. The ring and bottom cap are nickel silver. The rod packs into a green cloth bag with a black painted tube with brass hardware and the Orvis data sticker in original condition.
