An Orvis Battenkill bamboo fly rod, 7'6", 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #6 line. Impregnated model. The rod weighs 4.1 ounces on my scale. Serial #12564 which dates it to 1952, though the rod was later refinished in 1997 as noted on the inside of the tube cap. Medium fast action, and the rod is nice and straight. Excellent refinished condition, it does not appear to have been used much (if at all) post-refinish. Darker cane done in a three up node pattern. Wrapped in dark red throughout with spiral wraps that transition to gold tipping. The keeper, guides, and tip tops are all gold anodized and the stripping guide has a gold anodized insert on it. The step ferrules are oxidized with nearly all of the oxidation intact save for a tiny area at the base of the welt on the two females. The grip is just shy of 6 1/2" and is shaped to a western profile. The front cork check has been ovewrapped with the dark red and gold color combination. The reel seat features an aluminum downlocking slide band over a lightly varnished walnut spacer. The rod packs into a grey cloth bag and a black frost coated aluminum tube with brass fittings and the Orvis data sticker affixed to it.
