A nice Ron Kusse Special Presentation fly rod, 7'6", 2-piece, 2-tips and built for a #4 or #5 line. Serial #8901. Fast DF action. This rod was built as #25 of a limited set of 25 of these that Ron made. It weighs 4 ounces on my scale (the hang tag states 3 1/4 oz). Mint, uncast condition. Flamed cane with lighter three up nodes. Super high quality varnish. The wraps are brown at the keeper, ferrules, and tip-tops with extra bands at the keeper of purple, dark brown, light brown, yellow, and purple. The main wraps are apricot colored. Oxidized Super Z style ferrules. The grip is 6 1/2" long and tapers to a long swell with a gold plated front cork check. The slide band reel seat is a burl walnut, well varnished, and has a catskill-style wood lip to meet the cork. The cap and ring are plated with 24k gold as well, and boasts a "Ron Kusse, Maker" die stamp. The tan cloth bag has a stiffener and a hang tag with all of the relevant data. The rod backs into an all-brass tube, that in turn packs into an aluminum and leather Arnie Mason made tube (together they are substantial and heavy).
