A nice Thomas and Thomas Montana model bamboo fly rod, 8'6", 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #6 line. Serial #5722 and the rod weighs 6.4 ounces on my scale. Very pleasing action, a quicker DF than many of the Montana models that I have handled. I would consider this rod mint but for the cosmetic casting cracks at the ferrule wraps. The rod is fully engraved on all of the metal surfaces. The cane is tiger stripe flamed and done in a three up node pattern. The swiss style ferrules are engraved and oxidized and retain 100% of their finish. The varnish is just perfect, mirror quality. Amber main wraps with cinnamon edges, brown at the ferrules. Agate stripper and dark snake guides. The grip is 6 1/2" and styled to a western profile with a hidden pocket cap for the uplocking nickel silver screwlock. The wood spacer is a varnished smoky veined Turkish walnut. The slide is stamped "Thomas and Thomas, Makers" and the T&T logo is engraved on the end cap. The rod packs into a tan cloth bag and a large black crackle painted tube with brass fittings. First-rate craftsmanship here.
