For sale here is an E.W. Edwards 9' 3/2 5-6wt bamboo rod. A very worthy restoration candidate! The rod is in good- overall condition with some issues. One of the tips is down 1/2" and also has a 2 1/2" long repair wrap between the last two guides. The hook keeper is missing. The mid-section and the longer tip have been re-wrapped, though it is possible the repaired tip may have also been re-wrapped. Lastly, one of the guides on the mid-section has been replaced. There is also an extra mystery tip that is included with the rod 7" shorter than the other tips and with a different style ferrule though it is the same size. The wraps are also somewhat similar to the original tips. All other sections appear to be full length though none of them are exactly the same length. All sections have sets.
The rod features moderately tempered cane with bright yellow wraps. The signature yellow Edwards script remains clean and bold but a little worn. Crimson agate stripping guide. Bakelite winding check. The plump cigar grip measures 5 3/8" in length with heavy soiling though the cork is free of ridging or other major defects. Bright aluminum down-locking reel seat over a bakelite spacer. The ferrules are size 12/64 and 16/64 with a nice fit. The rod weighs 5.40 oz. The action is on the medium side of medium-fast. The rod comes with its original Edwards bag in excellent condition and marked "Edwards Fishing Rods" in red. Also, included is the original tube.
Despite its issues, this is a rarely seen original Edwards rod that represents the golden age of bamboo rods.
