A very nice Hardy Brass Faced Perfect salmon reel, 4" diameter and set up for the typical RHW. The reel boasts the 1904 design with the improved ratchet pawl, which Hardy introduced to strengthen the pawl with a stronger steel bridge. This reel still has the "C" spring flush against the frame, however, which Hardy would soon orient perpendicularly. Excellent overall condition, with normal cosmetic wear but free of any major defects that I could find. There is a little bit of corrosion to the interior part of the spool but the reel is otherwise superb for its age. The spool is nice and tight, free of any wobble, the brass foot is full length, and the ivorine handle spins freely. The check is delightfully loud and the Turks head tensioner works perfectly throughout its range. The brass winding plate features the rod-in-hand logo and the straight line "Hardy Pat / Perfect Reel" stamp, along with the original owner's initials "ORD" professionally engraved. A fine example of a brass faced perfect salmon reel.
