For sale here is a Paul H. Young SPECIAL DELUXE - 7'6 2/2 4-5wt bamboo rod. The rod is in excellent original condition. The "Deluxe" version of the late 1940s Special model had the owner's name hand-inked by Paul on the butt section. The butt section of the rod is not marked with the typical Special ink stamp, but the rod is clearly a Special Deluxe.
All sections are full length and straight. The rod features lightly flame tempered cane with bronze colored wraps and blued guides. The script, in Paul's handwriting remains clean and bold. The original owner's name, Clarence Kaether, is hand-inked on one flat, written on the next flat 7 1/2' 3 1/4 oz. HEH. HEH is equivalent to a 5 weight line. The half wells grip measures 6" in length with mild soiling and the faintest of ridging on a few rings. Blued nickel silver cap and ring reel seat over a cork spacer with the butt cap featuring the expected PHY Detroit stamp. The ferrule fit is excellent. The rod weighs a lean 3.30 oz. Medium fast action. Throws a DT4 or WF5 with ease and finesse. Includes original bag and tube though the tube is missing its cap.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

Other Terms
- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
